On account of the consequences resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics (WFCP) World Congress will not be held this year 2020.
The event organisation committee, made up of Tknika (TVET Investigation centre dependent on the Department of Education of the Basque Government) and the Association of Colleges (AOC) from the United Kingdom, together with the WFCP, have made the decision to cancel the congress, which was initially planned for October.
The organisation has taken into consideration, in the first instance, the health of the participants. With the uncertainty whether or not the health crisis will have ended by October, the confinement that a third of the world is living right now complicates the planification both for the participants and for the organisers. Additionally, the possible increase in costs both for some and for others and the difficulty for the sponsors to maintain their agreements in a moment of this health emergency make it unviable for the WFCP Congress to be held this year.
At this point in time, the proposals presented for the excellence awards are being assessed. We will broaden this information as soon as we can and contact all the participants.
In addition, the deadline for the Calls for Proposals, Breakout Sessions, and the Affinity groups has been extended to the 30th of April. When the next steps have been decided, we will use the official channels to inform the general public as well as those who presented proposals.
From the organisation we want to express our gratitude for all your support: to sponsors, to the people that have already registered, to the ones that have been working in the congress for months,… We will shortly contact the ones who have already paid for their registration in order to process the refunds.
In any case, we point you to the 2022 edition, which we hope will be an unprecedented success. Despite current circumstances, we are working hard to continue with everything that has already been done, keeping the energy and effort alive; we are really looking forward to making it a reality in the 2022 congress, which we hope to see in Donostia-San Sebastián.
We regret that after all the effort that has been made during the last months; we have been forced to make an unwanted decision in the face of a situation without precedent.
Nevertheless, we encourage you all to keep working and innovating in favour of TVET excellence, even under these circumstances.
Good health to all, and of course, see you at the WFCP 2022 Congress!
